Description

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of rural poverty and gender, race, ethnicity and generation inequalities in the semi-arid Northeast. This objective will be achieved by improving the coordination of public rural development policies with a territorial approach, the access of the rural population to these policies, the expansion of successful innovations and the improvement of these policies based on concrete experiences. The project will be executed through three main components. The first is policy dialogue, public policy coordination and scaling up of innovations, which seeks to improve public policies and programs to reduce poverty and inequality through better coordination and the adoption of innovative experiences. Specific activities include the systematization of successful experiences, the dissemination of innovations, field visits and exchanges of experiences, and participation in policy dialogue forums. The second component is the development of organizational capabilities. This component aims to strengthen the capacities of rural communities and their organizations to access public policies and programs and participate in development processes. Specific actions include social mobilization, strengthening the capacities of the rural population to access public policies, improving social participation in territorial development processes, and training of women and youth. The third component is sustainable productive development and access to markets. This component focuses on promoting the sustainable transformation of agricultural production to improve food security and income generation. Actions include the provision of ongoing technical assistance services focused on sustainable production, sustainable environmental management and market access. Financing is also provided for innovative investments in agricultural production, agribusiness and non-agricultural activities.
