Biological control of Spodoptera frugiperda (Noctuidae) and Oebalus insularis (Pentatomidae) in rice using oophagous parasitoids

Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The project seeks to implement sustainable and efficient alternatives in agricultural pest management, specifically through applied biological control, using parasitoids such as Trichogramma pretiosum and Telenomus podisi to combat the pests Spodoptera frugiperda and Oebalus insularis in rice crops. This approach aims to reduce dependence on agrochemicals, aligning with sectoral policies and promoting environmentally friendly practices that increase the competitiveness and productivity of the primary sector. It is expected to produce large quantities of these parasitoids on a monthly basis for release in commercial areas, significantly reduce the population of the aforementioned pests, and train producers in the effective use of these technologies. In addition, technology acceptance studies will be carried out among producers to ensure effective adoption of the technology. Finally, the project will directly benefit producers in specific regions of Panama, improving yields and promoting sustainability and socioeconomic resilience in rural communities.
