Genetic variability of Magnaporthe oryzae in rice cultivars in Panama

Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The project focuses on studying the genetic diversity and ultrastructural interaction of the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae, which causes rice blast disease, in local rice cultivars. Through a series of activities, the fungi present in different rice cultivars will be taxonomically characterized and DNA sequences will be obtained to analyze the phylogeny and interaction of M. oryzae with rice. This study is essential for the development of breeding strategies to search for rice cultivars resistant to this disease. In addition, the project is expected to contribute to the knowledge and conservation of the genetic diversity of rice crops in Panama, thus supporting the objectives of the National Program for Research and Innovation of Genetic Resources and Biodiversity. The results will be disseminated through scientific publications and digital databases, benefiting researchers, rice producers and associated academic entities.
