St. Kitts and Nevis Climate Smart Agriculture Project

The project aims to improve climate-smart agriculture in Saint Kitts and Nevis, focusing on adaptation and mitigation to climate change and sustainable development. This climate resilient development project for agriculture seeks to exploit synergies and reduce conflicts between these actions, facilitating adaptation through the expansion and improvement of community and farm water storage facilities, the adoption and scaling of infrastructure and climate-resilient superstructure, as well as smart agricultural technologies in terms of water use and energy efficiency. Mitigation will be pursued through the integration of low-carbon technologies and practices, while sustainable development will be promoted by addressing gaps in enabling policies, plans and institutional framework, and strengthening capacities and inter-institutional collaboration for adaptation and mitigation at fiscal, institutional, regulatory, community and agricultural levels. The project also promotes a comprehensive approach to mainstreaming climate change considerations into national food security, and seeks to empower women, youth and other vulnerable and disadvantaged groups by increasing access to climate-resilient inputs, training and support services. information.
