Description

This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea, focuses on strengthening the capacities of women and youth in the agricultural sector by adopting Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices. With an investment of more than $6 million, of which $4.9 million is contributed by South Korea, the project will operate mainly in the departments of San Miguel and Usulután, areas belonging to the Dry Corridor and vulnerable to climate change. The project will benefit 32,000 farmers with early warning systems and train 760 in CSA, entrepreneurship and financial management, in addition to providing technical assistance and small grants to 520 participants. This effort is expected to encourage job creation and improve living conditions in rural communities, while promoting sustainable agricultural systems that can mitigate the effects of climate change and open new employment and productive opportunities. The implementation will be done with the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador and the GGGI, focusing on improving associative capacity and the use of advanced technologies to maximize agricultural productivity.
