The Sustainable Pathways project managed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by UNEP together with local partners. Its main objective is to improve the financing and management of protected areas through innovations in capacity and renewable energy arrangements. The project is divided into four main components: 1) Development of a Sustainable Island Resource Financial Plan, 2) Pilot Expansion of Island Resource Protected Areas. 3) Sustainable Island Resource Financial Plan Supporting Renewable Energy to the Protected Areas System, and 4) Improvement of Forest Ecosystems.
