Production of certified category seed for the MAGAP National Seed Project for Strategic Agrochains

The INIAP project strengthens the infrastructure and equipment of five processing plants at its experimental stations and sets up three vegetative houses to produce certified seed. It produces about 31,000 tonnes of certified seed of rice, hard maize, soft maize, beans, potato, quinoa, wheat, barley, lupin and soybean, which is delivered to the Ministry of Agriculture (MAGAP) for distribution to farmers under the National Seed Plan. It aims to benefit 221,123 farmers in 15 provinces and to raise crop yields by about 64%.
