Start Date: 11/04/2022
End Date: 31/12/2028

Description

The project’ goal is to contribute to reducing rural poverty while decreasing deforestation and environmental degradation in the Amazon region of Maranhão. Its development objective is to improve the livelihoods and the food and nutrition security of the rural poor through the conservation and sustainable use of the Amazon rainforest. Through the intervention, the project will increase the resilience of 64,000 people and reduce approximately 6 million tons of CO2 equivalent. PAGES targets the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the Brazilian Amazon, aiming to demonstrate that rural livelihoods can be improved and become more resilient through production practices that promote forest restoration and conservation, leading to local socioeconomic benefits and provision of local, national, and global environmental services.
