Lesson Description Source
Public competitions as a mechanism for inclusion The model for allocating resources through participatory competitions and the CLAR mechanism promoted transparency, strengthened the trust of the target population, and ensured an equitable distribution of benefits. Link
Collaboration as the foundation of success Organizing producers into groups was the key factor in accessing resources, sharing risks, and ensuring social control over investments, and it was crucial to the sustainability of the ventures. Link
Coordination with local governments The active participation of municipalities in identifying organizations, the CLAR competitions, and the monitoring of the ventures was crucial to the project’s local relevance and institutional sustainability. Link
Direct transfer of funds to organizations Direct bank transfers to beneficiary organizations streamlined implementation, built confidence in the model, and strengthened the financial management capabilities of rural groups. Link
Peer learning as an adoption strategy Learning pathways, internships, and farmer-to-farmer exchanges were more effective than traditional training in promoting the adoption of technologies and good agricultural practices. Link
Inadequate gender strategy from the outset The lack of a formal gender strategy and a dedicated specialist from the outset limited the scope of the results for women and young people, particularly in financial education, where the reach was just 10% for young people. Link
Early startup and prerequisites The 18-month delay in launching the project highlighted the need for staff dedicated exclusively to handling the legal and administrative requirements prior to the agreement’s entry into force. Link
