Learned lessons
Gained knowledge from implementing, evaluating, and managing a policy intervention, including why it was or was not effective and how it could be improved in the future.
Lesson Description Source
Sustainability requires a combination of financing and technical assistance. Projects with access to credit must be accompanied by ongoing technical assistance to ensure that investments generate sustainable productive and environmental improvements. Link
The territorial approach enhances efficiency and local ownership. Interventions involving territorial planning and the participation of local actors achieve greater impact and reduce operating costs, improving institutional efficiency. Link
Technological innovation must be adapted to the social and climatic context. Technology transfer is most successful when it takes into account agroecological conditions, local knowledge, and the socioeconomic constraints of producers. Link
Measuring impact facilitates policy sustainability. Having robust monitoring and evaluation systems in place makes it possible to demonstrate results, attract additional investment, and sustain policies beyond the initial funding. Link
Inter-agency cooperation amplifies results. Coordination between governments, development banks, and multilateral organizations increases the efficiency and scope of programs in the agricultural sector. Link
