Cartagena Agreement Agricultural Development Program This initiative promotes productive diversification and the valorization of native Andean species with high nutritional and commercial potential, such as mortiño. It also strengthens the livelihoods of small-scale producers by improving access to differentiated markets, fostering local value chains, and acknowledging the role of family farming in ensuring food security. Moreover, the project contributes to the implementation of the guidelines outlined in the Agricultural Development Program of the Cartagena Agreement. Diagnosis of Mortiño Distribution in Colombia and Ecuador In Colombia, 21 mortiño species were identified in the studied areas; in Ecuador, Vaccinium floribundum, its Tatei variety, and a local species known as sacha mortiño were detected.
