The State Climate Change Action Program of Durango aims primarily to propose measures to mitigate GHG emissions to help reduce the state's contribution to the atmosphere; as well as to outline adaptation actions in sectors most vulnerable to climate change to reduce the impact and potential damage to social, productive, and environmental sectors. To achieve this objective, it is essential to have the State Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (IEEGEI-Durango, 2012) to understand the magnitude of emissions in each considered category, obtain climate and GHG emission scenarios, determine sector vulnerability, and propose mitigation and adaptation strategies; all within the context of climate change.
