National Policy to Combat Desertification and Mitigation of Drought Events

The National Policy for the Combat and Prevention of Desertification and Mitigation of Drought Events has the following objectives: I – to prevent and combat desertification and to recover affected areas, throughout the national territory; II – support the sustainable development of areas susceptible to desertification, through the fight against poverty and social inequalities, the stimulus to the sustainable use of natural resources, the conservation of the environment and the promotion of an agricultural practice adapted to local ecological conditions in an approach consistent with Agenda 21, among others.
