Start Date: 30/09/2023
End Date: N/A

Description

The Climate Change Law for the State of Zacatecas and Municipalities was enacted on December 29, 2015. The law establishes the framework for climate action in the state of Zacatecas, encompassing both climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. Its primary objectives include mitigating greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and achieving emissions neutrality within the state, adapting to the impacts of climate change, and fostering civil society participation in climate action. The law institutes a state-level climate action system led by the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources of the State of Zacatecas (SEMARNAT), centered on a periodically updated state climate action plan. Key components of the law involve institutional collaboration, incorporating SEMARNAT, municipal governments, civil society organizations, and other pertinent stakeholders, grounded in state climate change policies and strategies. This law serves as a significant instrument in the fight against climate change, providing a structured framework for implementing measures aimed at reducing GHG emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
