Description

The Climate Change Law for the State of San Luis Potosí, Law No. 101, was enacted on November 29, 2013, and serves as the framework for climate action in the state. It addresses both the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change impacts, emphasizing the engagement of civil society. This law establishes a state-level climate action system led by the Secretariat of Ecology and Environmental Management (SEGAM), which is responsible for formulating, implementing, and evaluating the states climate policy. The system relies on state climate policies and strategies, a regularly updated state climate action plan, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, it includes provisions for penalties and sanctions for those failing to comply with its requirements. This law plays a crucial role in advancing climate action in San Luis Potosí, providing a structured approach to reduce emissions and enhance resilience to climate change impacts.
