Description

It establishes a framework for climate action in Honduras, including both mitigation and adaptation to climate change. The laws primary objectives are to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and achieve emission neutrality in the country, adapt to the impacts of climate change, and promote civil society participation in climate action. It establishes a national climate action system, led by the Secretariat of Natural Resources and Environment (SERNA), responsible for formulating, implementing, and evaluating the national climate policy. This system encompasses policies and strategies, a national climate action plan, regular monitoring and evaluation, and a system of penalties and sanctions for non-compliance.
