Ecuador’s First Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 2020–2025

Ecuador’s First Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) establishes the country’s climate change mitigation and adaptation actions and commitments for the 2020–2025 implementation period under the Paris Agreement. Its mitigation component covers energy, agriculture, industrial processes, waste, and land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF), including unconditional and conditional greenhouse gas emission reduction scenarios. Its adaptation component prioritizes water resources, natural heritage, health, productive and strategic sectors, human settlements, and food sovereignty, agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and fisheries. The NDC also integrates risk management, participation and gender as cross-cutting approaches, together with capacity building, financing and technology transfer as means of implementation.
