Law No. 27,640: Biofuels Regulatory Framework

Law No. 27,640 establishes, until 31 December 2030, the national framework governing the production, storage, marketing and blending of biofuels. It designates the Secretariat of Energy as the enforcement authority; regulates authorizations, quality, inspections and penalties; establishes mandatory biodiesel and bioethanol blending, supply allocation and pricing rules; creates the Special Biofuels Commission; promotes fossil-fuel import substitution; and provides tax treatment for biodiesel and bioethanol produced from domestic raw materials.
