ICA Resolution No. 000698 of 2011 on the Registration and Control of Agricultural Biological Inputs, Producers and Importers (Repealed)

Start Date: 08/02/2011
End Date: 15/06/2020

Description

Resolution No. 000698 of February 4, 2011, issued by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), established requirements for the registration and control of agricultural biological input producers, contract producers, importers and technical departments conducting efficacy trials, as well as requirements for registering these products in Colombia. The regulation applied to individuals and legal entities involved in the production, importation and evaluation of agricultural biological inputs intended for marketing or direct use. It established administrative procedures and technical requirements concerning company and product registration, efficacy testing, quality, safety, labeling and the obligations of registration holders. It also provided for official controls to verify compliance with ICA requirements. The regulation sought to strengthen technical and sanitary oversight of agricultural biological inputs and help ensure product quality and efficacy, agricultural health, primary-production food safety, and the protection of human health and the environment. The resolution entered into force on February 8, 2011, upon publication in Official Gazette No. 47,977. Its provisions were subsequently repealed by ICA Resolution No. 068370 of 2020, which established a new regulatory framework for registering agricultural biological input producers, importers, efficacy-testing departments and products. Accordingly, this resolution is a historical regulatory predecessor and must be classified as completed rather than currently in force.
