Description
Law No. 1274 provides for the absorption of the Nicaraguan Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) by Nicaragua's Ministry of Agriculture (MAG), transferring all functions, assets, rights and obligations of the Institute to the Ministry and terminating INTA's legal personality. The Law amends Article 24 of Law No. 290 on the Organization, Competence and Procedures of the Executive Branch to incorporate among MAG's responsibilities the formulation of agricultural development policies, plans and strategies; identification of demand for credit and technological assistance; implementation and coordination of public agricultural technology generation and transfer programmes; promotion of scientific and technological research and training; formulation of policies on the distribution, ownership and use of State rural lands; and coordination with environmental and water authorities on soil and water conservation programmes. The Law also transfers INTA's movable and immovable property, records, systems, laboratories, financial assets, personnel and budget to MAG and repeals Decree No. 22-93 creating INTA and all its amendments.
