Decree 0698 of 2026: Special Program for the Acquisition and Allocation of Land for Indigenous Peoples and Communities

Decree 0698 of 2026 creates in Colombia the Special Program for the Acquisition and Allocation of Land for Indigenous Peoples and Communities that do not own land or whose existing land is insufficient. The program establishes a special procedure based on an Indigenous approach and enhanced protection of territorial, collective and cultural rights; prioritizes Indigenous communities affected by the armed conflict; allows direct acquisition and preferential purchase of rural properties; requires the immediate initiation of land titling procedures once land has been acquired; establishes mechanisms for file management and traceability; and provides for institutional monitoring of land acquisition procedures.
