Description

Belize’s Ministry of Agriculture, the Belize Agricultural Health Authority and partners such as OIRSA intensified preventive actions to protect the national banana industry from the risk of Fusarium R4/TR4, a devastating disease affecting bananas and plantains. The initiative includes institutional coordination, phytosanitary surveillance, biosecurity, specialized technical assistance, strengthening of quarantine and plant health capacities, and joint work with national and international partners to prevent the disease from entering the country and safeguard an industry valued at approximately 90 million dollars.
