Pilot Programme for Soyabean, Corn, and Blackeye Beans Production in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries launched the Pilot Programme for Soyabean, Corn, and Blackeye Beans Production, an initiative aimed at strengthening domestic agricultural production, reducing the food import bill and advancing food and nutrition security. The programme starts in Caroni and follows a phased pilot-to-scale approach to assess the productive viability of priority crops with potential for import substitution, agro-processing, animal feed and integration into national feeding programmes.
