Water Skiing and Motor Boat Control (Amendment) Bill, 2026

The Water Skiing and Motor Boat Control (Amendment) Bill, 2026 of The Bahamas proposes to amend the Water Skiing and Motor Boat Control Act to establish safe speed rules for motor boats in the Harbour of Nassau and port areas. The bill sets a five-mile-per-hour limit or a no-wake speed in the Harbour of Nassau, defines criteria for determining safe speed in port areas, provides exceptions for emergency services, rescue operations and written approval from the Port Controller, and creates penalties for abandoned motor boats that obstruct navigation, marine traffic, port operations or the lawful use of port areas.
