Bolivia's National Agroecology Strategy (2025): Sustainable Transformation of Agrifood Systems

Bolivia's National Agroecology Strategy (ENA), published in 2025 by the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands, establishes strategic guidelines to promote the transformation of production and agrifood systems through agroecology, in accordance with the principles of Living Well and maintaining balance with Mother Earth. The strategy seeks to strengthen food security and food sovereignty, conserve biodiversity, increase resilience to climate change, and promote sustainable and inclusive production systems. It integrates scientific knowledge and ancestral knowledge and recognizes the participation of family farmers, Indigenous peoples, women and other stakeholders involved in agroecological production. The strategy is structured around eight areas related to research, capacity development, agroecological management, market access, guarantee systems, financing, participatory governance and equity. It also proposes institutional coordination and stakeholder participation mechanisms to facilitate implementation. The strategy has national scope and was published in 2025.
