Peru National Fisheries Policy to 2040, Approved by Supreme Decree No. 012-2025-PRODUCE

Peru's National Fisheries Policy to 2040, approved by Supreme Decree No. 012-2025-PRODUCE, establishes the national strategic framework for addressing the limited competitiveness of stakeholders along the marine and inland fisheries value chain. The policy seeks to strengthen the sustainability and responsible use of fishery resources, improve production conditions, modernize fisheries infrastructure and related services, promote technological innovation, and strengthen the marketing of fishery products. It also aims to increase the sector's economic contribution, create employment opportunities, and improve the living conditions of people involved in the fisheries value chain. Implementation takes place through the plans of the National Strategic Planning System under the leadership of the Ministry of Production, with the participation of competent public institutions. The policy includes coordination, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and establishes a planning horizon extending to 2040. It was approved and published on August 1, 2025.
