Supreme Decree No. 003-2024-MIDAGRI: Implementing Regulation of Peru's Food and Nutrition Security Law

Supreme Decree No. 003-2024-MIDAGRI approves the implementing regulation of Law No. 31315, Peru's Food and Nutrition Security Law. Its purpose is to establish the provisions necessary to implement the law and support the development and implementation of public policies that guarantee permanent access to healthy food. The regulation develops multisectoral coordination mechanisms, establishes guidelines for promoting sustainable food systems, and includes provisions addressing food emergencies and vulnerable populations. It also regulates information generation, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for food and nutrition security policies, including the progressive development of the Food and Nutrition Security Observatory. The regulation seeks to strengthen food availability, access and utilization through coordination among the competent public institutions. It was published on February 27, 2024, and entered into force on February 28, 2024.
