Regulatory Framework to Promote and Strengthen the Peasant Economy and Family Farming in the Andean Region

Regional normative framework approved by the Andean Parliament Plenary (Recommendation No. 419, May 2020) establishing guiding guidelines for the design of public policies in favor of the peasant economy and family farming across member states (Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru). It defines guiding principles (associativity, equality, sustainability, non-discrimination), rights and duties of stakeholders, and strategic guidelines across six axes: financial resources, organizational strengthening and rural development, commercialization and market access, climate resilience and risk management, domestic market protection, and gender equity.
