Peru: Law No. 29664 Creation of the National System for Disaster Risk Management (SINAGERD)

This law establishes the National System for Disaster Risk Management (SINAGERD) as an inter-institutional, decentralized, and participatory system to identify and reduce disaster risks, prevent the creation of new risks, and ensure preparedness and response to emergencies. It establishes the National Disaster Risk Management Policy, defines its components (prospective, corrective, and reactive management), and organizes the institutional actors responsible for its implementation at all levels of government. The law includes provisions on infractions, sanctions, and instruments of the system, such as the National Disaster Risk Management Plan.
