Colombia Sustainable Cattle Farming Policy Guidelines 2022-2050

Colombia Sustainable Cattle Farming Policy Guidelines 2022-2050 establish a national roadmap to modernize and transform conventional cattle production systems into sustainable, competitive, inclusive and climate-resilient models. Developed through collaboration among public institutions, livestock organizations, research institutions and private stakeholders, the guidelines are structured around three pillars: sustainability, productivity and markets; governance and institutions; and financing. They promote sustainable livestock practices, silvopastoral systems, land-use planning, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, deforestation prevention, ecosystem conservation and restoration, technical assistance, innovation, financing and access to differentiated markets. Expected outcomes include improved productivity and profitability, greater resource-use efficiency, lower carbon intensity, stronger climate resilience and a transition towards sustainable land use. The guidelines have national scope and a planning horizon extending to 2050.
