Colombia: Comprehensive Climate Change Management Plan for the Agricultural Sector (PIGCCS-Agropecuario)
Start Date:
2021
End Date:
2030
Description
Long-term sectoral plan formulated by Colombia's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) with FAO and UNDP support under the NAP-Ag program, adopted through Resolution No. 000355 of 2021 with a 2030 horizon. It aims to identify, coordinate and guide measures for the agricultural sector to mitigate GHG emissions and reduce climate vulnerability while increasing productivity and rural welfare. It is structured around five strategic lines: climate information for decision-making; sustainable agricultural practices; resilience to extreme climate events; investment and policies for resilient, low-carbon rural development; and institutional coordination and research. It prioritizes 14 productive systems, with special emphasis on peasant, family and community agriculture (ACFC).
