National Adaptation Strategy to Address Climate Change in the Agriculture Sector in Belize

Start Date: 10/06/2015
End Date: 2020

Description

Sectoral strategy and action plan defining concrete adaptation measures for Belize's agricultural sector in response to climate change. Addresses projected impacts on the country's main export commodities (sugarcane, citrus, banana, rice, corn, beans, livestock, and aquaculture) through six thematic axes: excess rainfall and flooding, water deficit and drought, rainfall variability, temperature rise, pest and disease shifts, and soil degradation. Cross-cutting measures include crop insurance, farmer group resilience, and agrometeorological early warning systems.
