Law No. 45 approving the “International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture" - Panama

Description

This law formally approves and incorporates the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) into Panama’s national legal framework, making its provisions on conservation, sustainable use, facilitated access, and fair and equitable benefit-sharing legally binding within the country. It commits Panama to the Multilateral System, recognizes farmers’ rights, and ensures national implementation of measures aimed at preserving agricultural biodiversity and strengthening food security through international cooperation and genetic resource governance.
