Resolution OAL-102-ADM-2019, declaring a National Alert Status and establishing phytosanitary measures to prevent the entry of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (Foc R4T) into the Republic of Panama

This resolution declares a National Alert Status in Panama due to the risk of introduction of Tropical Race 4 and mandates a set of compulsory phytosanitary and quarantine measures, including the prohibition of entry of plant materials and propagative tissues of musaceae and heliconias from affected regions. It establishes a national Fitosanitary Action Plan, reinforces inspection and surveillance at borders, and empowers the National Directorate of Plant Health and the Executive Directorate of Agricultural Quarantine to adopt all necessary technical procedures to prevent the introduction of this quarantine pest and safeguard Panama’s banana and plantain industries.
