Resolution No. OAL-106-ADM-2019 – “Creating the Technical Support Commission to Prevent the Entry of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (Foc TR4) into the Republic of Panama”

This resolution creates a Technical Support Commission tasked with coordinating national actions to prevent the introduction of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (Foc TR4) into Panama. The Commission brings together government institutions, private sector representatives and agricultural organizations to implement biosecurity measures, border inspection protocols, surveillance actions, communication strategies, risk profiling, and preventive controls in ports, airports and land borders. It reinforces the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) as the lead phytosanitary authority and establishes a multi-institutional framework for safeguarding the country’s banana and plantain production from this high-risk quarantine pest.
