The Sustainable Finance Taxonomy of Panama defines what constitutes an environmentally sustainable investment in the country and establishes a reference framework to facilitate the identification of economic activities that contribute to national environmental and social objectives. It is a science-based transparency tool that aims to mobilize capital toward strategic investments for a sustainable, resilient and inclusive economy. Its development was led by the Superintendency of Banks, the Superintendency of the Securities Market, the Superintendency of Insurance and Reinsurance of Panama, and the Sustainable Finance Working Group. It also involved the collaboration of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Its development received technical coordination from UNEP FI and funding from the EUROCLIMA Program and the Green Climate Fund.
