Description

NOM-008-FITO-1995 establishes the mandatory phytosanitary requirements and technical specifications governing the importation of fresh fruits and vegetables into Mexico to prevent the introduction, spread, and establishment of quarantine pests. It mandates international phytosanitary certification, inspection at ports of entry, approved quarantine treatments, origin verification programs, and risk-based mitigation measures, while defining regulated products, operational procedures, and enforcement mechanisms to ensure an adequate level of phytosanitary protection under the Federal Plant Health Law.
