Start Date: 18/11/1996
End Date: N/A

Description

This Official Mexican Standard establishes mandatory external quarantine regulations to prevent the introduction and spread of banana quarantine pests (Musa spp.) into Mexico. It defines prohibited materials, complete and partial quarantine restrictions, phytosanitary import requirements, inspection and certification procedures, and the authority of the government to reject or destroy non-compliant shipments. The standard includes an extensive list of quarantine pests and establishes the legal basis for phytosanitary controls at international ports, airports, and border inspection points.
