The National Maritime Policy 2019-2030 is a multisectoral policy that seeks to harmonize policies related to activities developed in the maritime territory of Peru. Its main objective is to provide a solution to the deficient use and sustainable exploitation of the maritime domain, strengthening and optimizing in a sustainable manner the use of maritime spaces and the exploitation of natural resources. The Peruvian State exercises sovereignty and jurisdiction over its maritime domain, which comprises the sea adjacent to its coasts up to two hundred nautical miles, developing, promoting and controlling maritime activities. The policy was developed by the Multisectoral Commission for State Action in the Maritime Domain (COMAEM) and its implementation is led by the Ministry of Defense. It is mandatory for all State entities at all levels of government, as well as for the private sector and civil society insofar as it is applicable to them.
