Description

The Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS) is an initiative launched in 2023 by the United States and coordinated by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to strengthen global food security by promoting nutritious, climate-resilient crops grown in healthy soils. The program drives agricultural adaptation through multilateral financing focused on soil health, crop diversity, and smallholder farmers’ resilience. VACS addresses challenges such as climate change, soil degradation, and crop dependence, fostering agricultural diversification and sustainability. Its activities promote an integrated management approach based on informed decisions about where and what to plant, which system to use, and how to apply it under specific contexts. This vision supports investment in local capacity, research, and knowledge strengthening to improve farmers’ income, nutrition, and resilience worldwide.
