National Action Plan for Agriculture GHG Inventory Improvement Belize 2022

Fecha de inicio: 2022
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

This plan aims to strengthen Belize's capacity to improve its agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. The document identifies the current status of institutional arrangements, data collection procedures, quality control, and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems. It recognizes advances such as the role of the National Climate Change Office (NCCO) and the support of the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) as a sectoral leader in agriculture, but also limitations in the institutionalization of the process, the lack of formal data exchange agreements, and the low frequency of agricultural censuses. The plan proposes actions to strengthen technical capacities, standardize information collection (through the Belize Agricultural Information System (BAIMS), institutionalize roles in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC), and expand the digitization of agricultural data.
