Fecha de inicio: 2003
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The Code of Ethics for Fisheries and Aquaculture for El Salvador is a complementary normative instrument designed to promote responsible fishing and sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture activities in the country. It was developed by CENDEPESCA in compliance with the legal mandate established in the General Law for Fisheries and Aquaculture Management and Promotion, with participation from CONAPESCA, CCCNPESCA and various interested sectors. The code establishes ethical and moral principles that seek to reconcile optimal use of fishery resources with environmental sustainability and intergenerational equity. Its systemic approach integrates components of fisheries policy, regulatory framework and established institutions for responsible activity management. The instrument creates an Ethics Committee with sanctioning powers and promotes sector self-regulation through voluntary commitments based on values of solidarity, cooperation and social responsibility.
