The Salvadoran Coffee Institute is a public law institution with its own legal personality that replaces the Salvadoran Coffee Council to formulate and direct national coffee policy. Its objective is to guide and promote Salvadoran coffee cultivation seeking the economic, educational, social and environmental development of the country through scientific research, technology transfer and innovation to increase coffee productivity and quality. The institution is governed by a Board of Directors composed of representatives from both public and private sectors, with a President appointed by the President of the Republic and an Executive Director. The Institute has broad powers including research, promotion, commercialization, international coordination and representation of the national and international coffee sector.
