Fund for Rural Development and Agricultural Productivity of the Andean Community

Decision 621 establishes a Fund for Rural Development and Agricultural Productivity aimed at promoting rural areas of Andean Community member countries in an integral and equitable manner. The fund guarantees food security and agricultural sector development through resource allocation to productive projects, preferably of community interest, that improve efficiency, sustainability and profitability of productive units. It is established with an initial contribution of US$ 610,926.12 from remaining resources of previous cooperation programs among member countries. Fund administration corresponds to the General Secretariat of the Andean Community, with annual budget approval by the Commission in Extended Meeting with Ministers of Agriculture. Member countries are not obligated to make additional contributions, but may make voluntary contributions to the fund.
