Description
The National Fruit Program of El Salvador (FRUTAL ES) is a social investment executed by IICA with resources from ANTEL privatization, which seeks to diversify agriculture in the fruit area. During the 2000-2003 period, the program focused on production and technology of native fruits such as coconut, lemons, zapotes, cashew, loquats, avocados, plums, peaches and anonas. The program developed activities in market intelligence, commercialization, provision of vegetative material, production and technology, financial management and communication. The report documents achievements in agronomic research, technology transfer, technical assistance to producers and the establishment of nurseries for propagation of improved genetic materials of tropical fruits.
