Regulation of the Love Converted into Food Law for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding

This Regulation aims to develop the provisions established in the Love Converted into Food Law for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding, guaranteeing the right to breastfeeding for all girls and boys, ensuring their growth and development throughout their life course. The Regulation applies to all natural or legal persons, as well as public and private employers, including the Salvadoran Social Security Institute and any other instance that employs pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers or provides care services to them and nursing infants. It establishes the responsibilities of the Ministry of Health as the governing entity and creates the Office for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding. It defines procedures for breastfeeding care, installation of lactation rooms and regulation of breast milk substitutes. Its implementation seeks to protect and promote breastfeeding as a fundamental right of children.
