Peru: Law No. 31804 – Promotion of the Sustainable Management of Natural Pastures for the Development of National Livestock Farming

Law No. 31804 establishes the State’s role in the sustainable management of natural pastures to ensure their adequate coverage in quantity and quality across different ecological zones, in line with the needs of livestock farming and family agriculture, within a climate resilience framework. The law aims to support the restoration of degraded grasslands, promote sustainable livestock production, encourage responsible grazing practices, boost primary livestock outputs to increase family income, prevent soil erosion, and enhance water and soil management, while respecting ancestral knowledge.
