Peru: Law No. 31111 amending Law No. 29811, Law that establishes the moratorium on the entry and production of living modified organisms into the national territory for a period of 15 years, in order to establish the moratorium until December 31, 2035.

Description

It establishes a moratorium in force until December 31, 2035 that prohibits the entry and production in the national territory of living modified organisms (LMOs) intended for cultivation or breeding, including aquatic organisms, when they are released into the environment. As a complementary provision, the Executive Power, at the proposal of the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), as the competent national authority, is entrusted with the preparation, within 60 calendar days, of a calendarized plan for compliance with the objectives of Law No. 29811, considering the extension of the term established by this law. Likewise, the regulations and other related norms must be adapted to said new period of validity.
