Description
The National Food and Nutritional Security Plan 2015-2021, approved by Supreme Decree No. 008-2015-MINAGRI, is a multisectoral instrument of national scope that guides the State's intervention to ensure sustained access to safe and nutritious food, with a preventive and rights-based approach. Its overall objective is to ensure that the Peruvian population can meet its nutritional requirements at all times through access to and adequate consumption of food. The plan is structured around five key dimensions of food security: (i) availability, (ii) access, (iii) utilization, (iv) stability and (v) institutional strengthening. Its specific objectives include: (a) guaranteeing sufficient production of safe and nutritious agricultural and hydrobiological food; (b) ensuring equitable access to quality food, with priority to the most vulnerable groups; and (c) promoting adequate consumption while respecting food habits and interculturality.
