Establishment of the National Network for the Dissemination of Specialized Agricultural Information (REDIAGRO) - Supreme Decree No. 014-2012-AG

Supreme Decree No. 014-2012-AG, published on October 26, 2012, establishes the National Network for the Dissemination of Specialized Agricultural Information (REDIAGRO) as a coordination mechanism involving the national government, regional governments and local governments. Its purpose is to improve joint institutional action in the generation, collection, systematization, access, dissemination and use of specialized agricultural information. The network serves stakeholders in the agricultural sector, particularly small and medium-sized agricultural producers, by facilitating access to information relevant to planning and decision-making. REDIAGRO comprises units of the Ministry of Agriculture, regional governments and local governments responsible for producing and disseminating specialized agricultural information. Other public and private institutions involved in agricultural activities, research and information production may also participate. The decree assigns the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Agricultural Information Directorate of the General Directorate of Agricultural Competitiveness, responsibility for coordinating, collecting, organizing, centralizing, integrating and disseminating information supplied by network members. REDIAGRO also participates in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the National Plan for the Dissemination of Specialized Agricultural Information in the Public Agricultural Sector. The decree establishes an institutional coordination and information-sharing mechanism; it does not itself approve that plan or establish credit programs, subsidies, technical assistance schemes or digital infrastructure investment programs.
